Kyer's Wish Takes Flight

Kyer wished to build an airplane

“ When I grow up, I want to change the world. ”

“When I grow up, I want to change the world!” Kyer excitedly shared with his wish granters. The courageous and vibrant boy hopes to someday design airplanes and make them better.

“When I grow up, I want to change the world!” Kyer excitedly shared with his wish granters. The courageous and vibrant boy hopes to someday design airplanes and make them better.

Kyer’s knowledge of planes is quite impressive, and he loves to fly gliders with his grandpa, dad and brother at the park. He even illustrated his own book entitled, “How a Plane is Built.”

Only 8 years old, Kyer has been through a lot, but he never lets his illness limit his dreams. Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease very young, his life is often interrupted by flare ups and debilitating abdominal pain.

With the help of his community, Kyer’s wish to build and airplane took flight. A local engineering design professor taught Kyer how to design and 3D print his own airplane designs, and a local pilot took Kyer, his brother and father up in a Cessna – even letting Kyer take the controls!

Moved by his experience, Kyer created a touching thank-you poster for all those who helped make his wish possible, covering the sign with his drawings of airplanes. Thanks to Make-A-Wish, Kyer says now he really can change the world and is excited for what the future holds for him.

“The wish experience gave my son confidence and more creativity in his drawings,” said Karen, Kyer’s mom. “He is now more imaginative in his artwork.”
